St. Helena's Eighth Graders and Students from
Msgr. Scanlan High School Visit Washington
D.C.
On
October 19, the students from Grade 8 visited Washington, D.C.
The specific reason for the trip was to visit the National
Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington where Father
Derivan offered Mass with our 8th Grade students and
also the students from Msgr. Scanlan High School who likewise
were visiting the shrine. Our students saw the beautiful shrine
dedicated to Our Lady, patroness of the United States and also
the many individual shrines built by various national groups
honoring the Mother of God. Our students also visited the
Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial and the World War II
Memorial during a very busy, but enjoyable day.
This
trip was designated to observe the Bicentennial of our
Archdiocese and to ask for the continued protection of Our
Blessed Mother Mary for our parish and our schools.
